Professional Photographers

Just returned home from a great photography seminar led by a friend and fellow photographer, Dawn. She did such a great job sharing her talents with the other professional photographers. It just goes to show you that you can never learn or practice too much. Professional photographers spend a lot of time and money to continually learn and improve their craft.

Photography is an ever evolving art media. Photography is so popular right now with the many innovative products, all which include a camera. We are at a time when we have so many tools to make an image. Photographers can choose from beginner digital cameras, cell phones and kid cameras to high-end digital cameras - which are now priced where an average Joe can charge one on the credit card and take home the same day.

No matter who you choose to shoot your child's senior portraits or baby's first photos, make sure you do not let the moment pass without a professional photograph. I'm so afraid there will be a generation of kids and all of their lives' most important moments will be documented on a cell phone and uploaded to Facebook but never saved onto professional archival print paper or disk. What a sad discovery for that child when the moment has already passed and it's too late.

Just remember to stop and smell the roses. Stay awhile and enjoy the view. Life is short. Choose a professional photographer. Make your story live through images by Shelly Perkins Photography.

ALLIE's 5th Bday Sneak Peek from Children Photographer Shelly Perkins Photography

I want to share a sneak peek of Miss Allie. I was blessed with taking her five-year-old birthday portrait this week. I surprised her with balloons when we met at the lake. We had so much fun at her shoot. Thank you Allie for playing with me.

PPO School with Don Dickson for Shelly Perkins Photography of Oklahoma

WOW! My D-Squared class speaker is now with "the" Don Dickson from Plainview, Texas. He is currently serving as the President of the Texas School of Professsional Photography and will be serving as next year's National President of the Professional Photographers of America. What an honor to study with Don. I had several "light bulbs" go off in my head during his class, which even brought me to tears.
Thank you to all those who worked behind the scenes to help make this week happen. Doc Cope, Wayne Reese, Jon Smith, Veronica, and my list could go on and on. At times I felt like I was at boot camp. We shot outside a lot in 100 degree temperatures and not always in the best lighting situations. However, this was to make us better photographers. I always want to stay on the cutting edge of technology and what's current in photography. This week at PPO Photography School has truly been a blessing to me. I've met new friends, saw old friends and really believe God is blessing me and showing me ways to pursue my craft to honor him.

PPO (Professional Photographers of Oklahoma) Photography School Continues for Shelly Perkins Photography

Wow, what an intense week of photography already! I am having the greatest time at the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma Photography School. My current instructor, Don MacGregor, is an amazing environmental portrait artist who typically is commisioned for $5000 for a master portrait. He is from Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. I'm learning so much and feel very blessed to have met and studied with him.

Professional Photographers of Oklahoma School this week!

I'm headed to a week of photography school with the Professional Photographers of Oklahoma at St Gregory's University. I'm looking forward to a great week with other professionals from Oklahoma, Texas and as far away as Canada. I love going to classes and believe you can never be too educated. I always try to keep up with the latest trends and new photography techniques, so my clients may benefit. Wish me luck and I'll be back with some fresh ideas to share with you.
