Inaugural Family Fun by Shelly Perkins Photography
I wanted to share a personal photo of my girls. We were delighted to attend a family event hosted by Oklahoma's newly elected Governor Mary Fallin at the Oklahoma Science Museum. They had a great time not only seeing Governor Fallin but also painting tiles for a mosaic for the Capitol building, having their faces painted, meeting Ronald McDonald, the Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball Cheerleaders, and all sorts of fun.
Mary Fallin's team did a great job of putting together this event for the citizens of our great state. We enjoyed performances by upcoming Greyson Chance (who will be performing with Miranda Cosgrove) and Kyle Dillingham (a violinst who is an Enid native). Oklahoma has some amazingly talented musicians and artists.

Meet Rex ~ Winner of AmeriKidz Magazine Cover Contest sponsored by Shelly Perkins Photography
Shelly Perkins Photography has teamed with AmeriKidz of OKC Metro ~
Shelly Perkins Photography sponsored the AmeriKidz Cover Contest to find the Cutest Girl and Cutest Boy in Oklahoma. We're happy to introduce you to Mr. Rex ! I had so much fun working with this guy. Although it was quite sunny that day in Oklahoma, you can't tell how very cold it was. WOW ! I was freezing but Rex was all smiles as we played together and got some great shots of that adorable smile of his. Rex is one of the reasons I LOVE shooting Children's Photography. What a better way to spend your day playing with kids?
Go check out AmeriKidz of OKC Metro ! You can find their magazine all over the Oklahoma City Metro area, as well as in the Norman and Moore, Oklahoma area too. You can also "Like" them on Facebook.... US TOO !

First Female Governor of Oklahoma
Today was a historic day for the State of Oklahoma. Governor Mary Fallin was elected as the first female Governor of our great state. Despite your political view, this is a great achievement! I attended the event with my husband and my two youngest daughters.
Anyone who has lived in Oklahoma knows the climate changes constantly. One day it can be 90 degrees and the next, the temperature can drop into the teens. Add the nearly constant wind and it can become quite chilly. Oklahoma decided to provide white snowflakes as the backdrop to this historical event and let me tell you, yes it was very cold.
However, we did have a good time and although I'm still thawing out, I was excited to be able to have my daughters attend.

The Branson Sky by Oklahoma's Shelly Perkins Photography
Looking off near the Branson Landing, Branson Missouri
Recently I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Branson, Missouri. One of my daughter's was attending a dance convention while I ran around exploring Branson. Unfortunately most of the time it was raining, however once the sky opened up, it presented me a beautiful image I just couldn't resist. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did photographing it.

Visit to China (well in Disney's Epcot) Shelly Perkins Photography
PHOTO A DAY.....
We have been to Disney World several times and still unsure why we haven't yet bought stock in the Disney company. They seem to get a lot of my money. lol Of course, my girls' favorite place to visit is the Magic Kingdom, however my favorite place to go is Epcot. This is the greatest place ever and you could go on a kidless Disney vacation here and still have a fabulous time.
I created this image at dusk at the China Pavilion located inside Epcot. It is a hand held image without flash. Wished I had a tripod to elimnate some of the noise but it's a little difficult to carry around a tripod and chase children.
I LOVE the Asian culture and think their architecture is just beautiful. I hope you enjoy the ZEN feel of the image. Have a great weekend and take some time out of your busy schedule with your family and friends and devote a few moments to yourself. Get some ZEN !

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONs by Shelly Perkins Photography
So I have several New Year's resolutions probably like the rest of you. I'm sure some have already broken many and if you're like me, you've procrastinated to think of them until a week into the New Year. ;0)
My PHOTOGRAPHY New Year's Resolutions ~
1. NOT scheduling too much OR NOT having family time
I LOVE what I do and everything I do is Full Steam ! I am always traveling somewhere or working on a new project. I want to remember the most important things in my life and that's Christ and my family.
2. Continually attend educational classes and workshops to keep it fresh and fun
I've already enrolled in the upcoming Professional Photographer's convention for this year. My husband and I were able to attend together last year in Nashville, Tennessee. This month we're headed to San Antonio, Texas to attend classes with some of the biggest name photographers in the World ! It's going to be rocking and I can't wait to share some of the things I learn (AND of course) there's SHOPPING at the Photography Trade Show too. ;0)
3. Post at least ONE photo a day
I'm very bad about updating my blog with my new work. I'm sure some people wonder if I shoot at all with how little I had posted over the last couple of months. PLUS, I'm REALLY bad about my kids' photos and working on our scrapbooks. One of my daughters told me I've taken photos of her she has never even seen. I always have a camera with me but seem to always put my kids to the end of the line as far as my imaging. That's going to change this year. I will try to POST something once a day.
I won't share all of my other resolutions and personal goals for the year. However, I do want to share the BIGGEST ONE and it is EXPRESSING MY GRATITUDE. I am so thankful to have a wonderful supportive family and amazing friends. I have the greatest clients with the CUTEST kids and have the best job there is. I LOVE shooting photography of all kinds and love making images which I know are going to be keepsakes for these families. Please know, I really appreciate each and everyone of you. THANK YOU for taking time to read my blog and join my Facebook page. THANK YOU all. God Bless, Shelly
